Pet Advice You Can Actually Trust
How often should I take my pet to the vet?
Healthy adult dogs and cats need a wellness exam once a year. Puppies and kittens need visits every three to four weeks until about sixteen weeks of age for their vaccination series, and pets over seven years old benefit from twice-yearly checkups because age-related conditions progress quickly
How much should I feed my dog or cat each day?
Portion size depends on weight, age and activity level rather than appetite. Start with the feeding guide printed on your pet's food packaging, then adjust based on body condition — you should be able to feel the ribs easily without pressing hard. Our feeding charts break this down by weight.
What are the early signs of a sick pet?
Watch for appetite loss lasting more than a day, increased thirst or urination, vomiting or diarrhoea, hiding, reduced energy, limping, or any sudden change in normal behaviour. Pets instinctively mask discomfort, so a subtle change is often the only warning you'll get.
How often should I groom my dog or cat?
Most dogs need brushing two to three times a week and a bath every four to six weeks. Cats groom themselves but still need weekly brushing more for long-haired breeds to reduce hairballs and matting. Nails generally need trimming every three to four weeks.
